Worker's Compensation Fund Headquarters

KEPCO+ was contracted to provide design-assist services on the Worker’s Compensation Fund Headquarters, a six-story building clad with 27,000 SF of African Red Granite and Giallo Victoria Granite. Stone procurement presented a challenge as both of these stones have a broad color range. The KEPCO+ preconstruction team conducted a highly detailed sampling process, working closely with the project team to determine the preferred color range for each stone type. Full size slabs of each granite were procured, then honed and placed side by side at the fabricator’s facility so that the design team could review, critique, and ultimately approve the acceptable color shade and finish from these samples. To ensure that the level of quality was met, KEPCO+ employed an independent stone inspector, who monitored production and quality. As reported by the architect and owner, the color consistency achieved on the final product exceeded their expectations.
