Boston Building
|
Originally constructed in 1909, the large upper cornice of this eleven-story building was potentially an area for seismic failure. KEPCO+ crews removed the existing roof in one area of the building to examine the stability of the cladding, review the original stone attachment system, and carefully evaluate each piece of the one-hundred-year-old limestone. Samples of the stone and steel backup system were sent off for testing, and after a full seismic engineering review was presented to the owner, it was determined that the cornice could be left in place.
