JANUARY 2026: CHISELED STONE & NICHE HEADER PANELS
Chiseled Stone and Niche Header Panel Facts:
The typical chiseled base panel weighed 9,000 lbs and incorporated 14 individual stones.
The typical niche header panel weighed 4,300 lbs and incorporated 3 individual stones.
The stones were created from thick blocks which were split in two by using a guillotine, cut to size, and hand chiseled on all four sides to match the character of the face of the guillotined blocks (shown in video opening clip).
The stones were then attached to a steel frame in KEPCO+’s off-site facility and each panel was assigned a specific location on the building.
Each panel was ‘pre-registered’ off-site in its exact location to the adjacent panels, ensuring that the panel-to-panel and panel-to-building attachments would fit perfectly when installed on the jobsite.
KEPCO+ teams fabricated and installed 173 stone-clad panels to complete the base of the building.
